How do I become a borrower?
Membership of the Public and TAFE library is free. Just bring your ID, (and your enrolment form receipt if you are a TAFE student), and complete our registration form. Staff will process your library card while you wait.
Once enrolled you can:
- Borrow up to 15 items for 2 weeks;
- Renew resources up to 3 times depending on demand;
- Renew materials over the phone or at the library circulation desk.
Your library card is your responsibility:
- You must have your library card with you each time you wish to borrow.
- You are responsible for all items borrowed on your card.
- Lost and damaged items must be paid for or replaced.
- Notify the library of any change of address or contact details.
What is available for borrowing?
- Fiction and non-fiction paperback and hardcover books for all ages;
- TAFE textbooks and videos for TAFE students and staff;
- Teacher resourrces for TAFE staff only;
- Music CDs; Talking Books;
- Large Print Books;
- Magazines;
- Local and Sydney newspapers;
- Children's beginner reader resources;
- A range of DVDs.
Is there a fine system?
No. We don't charge a fee for late returns.
If you don't renew your materials after the 2 week loan period, you will receive an overdue letter in the post. Please renew your loan, or immediately return the item to the library.
If you lose or damage a resource, you will be asked to replace the item, or to pay its replacement costs. The replacement item must be in excellent condition. If you have lost a hard cover book, the replacement should also be a hard cover. You will also need to pay a $12.00 administration fee.
Will I have to pay for Internet access?
Internet and email access are free to library users. You can access the Internet for 30 minutes, or use the computer for word processing for an hour. It is a good idea to make a booking at the library, to ensure you have access to a computer when you need it.
You will have to pay for your printing at the rate of:
- 25 cents per A4 black and white page;
- 30 cents per A4 coloured page.
Children's Computer Access
Borrowers under 16 years of age must have their parents or carers' permission to use the Internet, as stated in the Library's Children Internet Access Policy. All borrowers under 16 years of age must present their library card to staff before they use the computers. If the borrower does not have their library card they will not be allowed to use the internet.
TAFE Use Computers
A TAFE user must enter a username and password to gain access to a TAFE computer. Each TAFE Faculty gives out usernames and passwords at the commencement of the course. Students and staff must agree to the conditions of use at login. Students are responsible for logging off the TAFE network upon completion of each session.
